The Ultimate Backup Of Your Business And Life

What a wonderful Sunday. I'll leave to the beach in a couple of minutes, but want to take the opportunity to write a quick post. Really, quick! I have set my timer to 10 minutes …

“Welcome back, Case!
Let's rock the Internet once more …”

Now you will ask what this is about. Just my little tribute to fellow Internet marketer Case Stevens who had disappeared from the scene for a couple of month due to serious health issues. I am very glad to hear that he is up and running again … back on his blog, too. And there is even one more reason to write this post. Case addresses an important issue in his first post after his disappearance.

Backup Is Important

  • Your files and data in case of system failure, account deletion, fire, …
    Should be a no brainer.

  • But what most people don't do is prepare for the case something happens to you. After recommending a Wordpress plugin as backup solution, Case goes on and writes:

My Sanctuary - No Marketing, No Business Allowed

John W. Furst

Do you have a place where it's easy for you to let loose and to forget about everything when you are there?

I am sure that you have such a place where you feel perfectly comfortable.

One of my favorite places — at least — during the day is going down to the Ocean and watch and listen to the waves. It's so relaxing and rejuvenating.

I have other places, too. But for now lets stick with one only.

And I thought I share and give you some of this experience, too. I have a relationship to the Ocean that reminds me on this great quote:

“Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the ‘gotta have it’ scale.”
--Zig Ziglar

No Business Allowed, Marketing Not Welcome

Just lean back, make yourself comfortable, watch and listen to this short video.

No action, no … nothing.

P.S.: In case you wonder why I am not blogging a lot right now. Summertime! The great news on the Canaries are the warm, but moderate temperatures. I never had more than have 28 ℃ (82 ℉) at home or in the office so far. This without air conditioning of course. Seems like I have picked the perfect spot. (There are some regions here with higher temperatures on the islands, too. No need to freeze if you are cold blooded.)

DNS Problems Make My Web Site Disappear

Check out OpenDNS.com

I have heard and read about a lot of problems with the Domain Name Service (DNS-Service) on an almost global level. I am not sure—nor did I look deeper into it—if this is related to the allegedly committed cyber-attacks originating from North Korea.

Web surfers in the USA, in Europe, in Asia, and South America reported on Twitter that they are having troubles to reach specific web sites or any sites on the Internet in general.

I did not even notice those conversations unless I couldn’t reach my (this) blog all of a sudden. I realized very quickly that the site is up and running and as a matter of fact this is the very only domain I noticed that I have problems with.

The vast majority of my readers won’t even notice the outage. It’s related to a problem my local ISP Telefonica seems to have with their DNS-service.

In less technical terms:

A DNS service translated the domain name into an IP-address and tells the browser on what server the web pages you are trying to reach are hosted.

Impressive Inauguration Mega-Pixel Foto With Mars Technology

US-President Obama's Inauguration
President Obama's Inauguration - Impressive

When I first saw this interactive mega-pixel photo I certainly thought, “Wow!”, and since I have mentioned Obama in my post Yes You Can, I decided to share it with you.

Check it out. It is quite impressive, you can pan and zoom around and therefore it's fun too.

Photographer David Bergman used the same NASA technology that was used to create the stunning picture from our Red Planet Mars.

The result is an unprecedented 1 474 mega-pixels photo. In comparison the average consumer digital camera operates on 5 mega-pixel. The detail is amazing. Pan around and take a closer look on the 2 million people who came to Washington to take part in this historic event. What earrings does Hillary Clinton wear? You even can make out that little detail.

David Bergman says,
“Covering the inauguration of President Obama was one of the biggest thrills of my life. Little did I know that it would be topped by the reaction to a photo I made that day. …With the ability to zoom in and move around the photo, it turned into an international game of ‘Where's Waldo?’ In the first 5 days, the image was viewed by millions of people in 186 countries.”

You might also want to check out the Gigapan (↑) site for more information about that technology and to view other “highest” resolution images.
