Email Marketing Tips - Edition 16

Update on Feb. 8, 2013: Deleted all entries with outdated tips or broken links.

Welcome to the sixteenth edition of email marketing tips on January 20, 2009.

The first edition of email marketing tips in 2009 is packed with information. I am not talking about the number of blog posts that I am featuring. No. I have thrown out almost all that got submitted. What's left is worthy of your attention and time. Lean back, read and enjoy.

At this time I am considering probably changing the schedule to one carnival every three weeks. We will see. I did not make up my mind on this so far. Only one fact remains unchallenged. I tend to keep the quality of this carnival up and will only give you noteworthy articles to read.

Already in 2008 I featured many articles that were not submitted by their authors but were rather found by myself on the internet. I see this trend might continue, because at least 85% of the submitted articles don't qualify according to my set quality standards.
“Less is more in that respect!”

I also will add more video to the blog in general and this carnival as well.

Today's categories are as follows:
  • Copywriting
  • Email Marketing For Bloggers
  • Code Of Practice

copy writing

John W. Furst presents Should You Avoid ?Free? In E-Mail Subject Lines? posted at Bob Bly Copywriter, saying, “Did you make up your mind about using the word ‘FREE’ in your email subject line? You should!”

John's comment: Bob is an experienced professional. I have featured him before. He asks, “What about you? Have YOU tested ‘free’ in e-mail subject lines? Does it work for you?”

And Bob tells us: “By the way, according to a recent study from Datran Media, 83% of marketers surveyed said that e-mail marketing — not blogging, social networking, or banner advertising — is their most important advertising medium.”

John W. Furst presents Email Stats - Free Versus Help For Johnny Bunko's Career posted at E-Biz Booster Blog, saying, “Reflecting on two of my email broadcasts, congratulations to a winner, and some solid career advice on top of it. (Still can get a great free comic PDF career advice ebook.)”

John's comment: Finally a post from yours truly again. As part of the blog article I feature a video with Daniel H. Pink, who is a best selling author and was a speech writer for Vice-President Al Gore in the 90s. What he says about the ingredients of a well written speech applies to email copy as well to some extent. You don't want to miss it. Check it out now.

Email Marketing For Bloggers

I present you Email Marketing Tips: What to Write About posted at Chris Garrett on New Media. Chris is saying, “The key to selling stuff with your email list is to make what you offer also content. Take the role of an editor, or connoisseur, you are providing your list subscribers the choicest, best, ideal selections. Even better, make the email worthwhile even should someone not buy, so everyone gains. You can introduce products as part of a tip, solution or piece of advice, or as further reading.”

John's comment: And Chris Garrett doesn't forget to tell you the real truth: ‘The golden rule of email marketing is to TEST - watch the reaction to everything you do.’

Okay, this was the last chapter in Chris' distinguished series of articles. If you have missed any of them… They are all linked to each other on Chris' site or you could go back to Email Marketing Tips - Edition #7 of my carnival where I have featured the first chapter so to speak. Enjoy, and happy testing.

Code Of Practice

That concludes this edition.
