This blog needs some pictures. What do you think?

Tenerife on Fire 2007 (↑)

It was in the news media all over Europe for days. The people living on Tenerife and Gran Canaria were threatened by large forest fires end of July. I live here, I saw the fire, the smoke, the disaster.

Thousands of people had to leave their home temporarily. Most of them had to flee early to avoid the high risk of getting caught be the fire, while driving on the only road that brings you down to sea-level away from the fire. The winds on the Canaries are usually very strong, the mountains are high, the roads are narrow. 13 houses have been destroyed on Tenerife alone. Only 13, because the “Bomberos” did a great job and, because the fire did turn away from dense populated areas of the island. Their is still more nature than people here. We (my family) were lucky, because the wind blew the fire away from our town.

At first I put this page up on my private homepage. Finally today I thought, why not posting it here so more people can see it. Business is about people. Right?

P.S.: What would you take with you, if you had to leave your home within a couple of minutes? Are your insurance policies at home or in your bank safe? Think about it.
