Email Template - Ways to Write a Newsletter Template

Email newsletter service is one of the most popular internet marketing strategies and it includes publishing and distribution of email newsletter on a regular basis to promote a specific service or product. Email newsletters are actually emails including graphics, links and content. Normally an e- newsletter is expected to be informative and beneficial for the user or client. However, it should also have a marketing purpose. In this way they prove to be strong and effective marketing tools.

Sample Email Template

There are many factors that need to be considered before using a newsletter as an advertising tool. The most important factor that needs to be considered is the distribution list. It is very important that you send them to the prospective customers who will be interested in the products or services. It is very important that the client reads your newsletter rather than just deleting it. E-mail marketing does not mean sending the mails to a large number of people. This is not considered as a good marketing strategy. It is necessary that you reach your target audience rather than just blindly sending the mail to any email address. This is definitely not considered as a good marketing strategy. You need to reach the right kind of people to increase your sales to the highest level. For this you definitely need to use some of the marketing tactics and techniques.

Another disadvantage if you send your newsletter to any random e-mail addresses is that your newsletter will be viewed as scam. This can cause various other problems and also result in wastage of time. Sometimes the recipients block the spam mails or even contact the internet service provider about the spam mails. This can lead to serious problems like penalties and business loss. Hence, one needs to be very careful before sending the e-mail newsletters.

A good way to create a distribution list is with the help of forum. In this way the interested customers can register themselves in order to get additional information. This means that the customers will register themselves on your website and send a request to be added in the email distribution list. Sending emails to these customers will be beneficial as they are already interested in the particular service or product and have asked for additional information. In this way your email will not be viewed as a spam and you will be able to build a hassle free marketing strategy.

The next important factor that needs to be considered is the content of the newsletter. You can include things like graphics and links in your newsletter to make it more attractive. You can use the method of soft advertising to promote your goods and services. Your email should contain useful information that will be beneficial for the clients. You can also include product reviews and short articles in it. You can create links to your own website which is a form of direct advertisement. Thus, this was some essential information about email newsletter service.

Email Marketing Tips - Edition 26

Update on Feb. 8, 2013: Deleted all entries with outdated tips or broken links.

Welcome to the 26th edition of email marketing tips on October 14th, 2010.

In this edition I present hand picked articles about email marketing. Enjoy.

Editor’s Pick

Mark Brownlow presents False idols: four beliefs that can hurt your email marketing posted at Email Marketing Reports, saying, “Our basic beliefs about how our emails work aren’t as self-evident as we’d like to believe. There’s nothing like a bit of pointy-finger self-criticism to brighten up the marketing week.”

John’s comment: Excellent article. Check it out.

Barry Adams presents Keyword Research for Email Marketing posted at Internet Marketing Blog, saying, “When we think of keyword research we usually don’t think beyond search engines. However, keyword research has applications beyond SEO and PPC. Another online marketing discipline it applies to is email marketing — albeit with a different angle.”

John’s comment: Interesting analogy to SEO. Using the wrong words can get your campaign in trouble, especially with spam filters. :-)

Chrissane Sternal and Lisa Barone present 12 Email Marketing Tips For Small Business posted at Understanding Marketing, saying, “Email marketing is still one of the most common forms of customer communications and outreach. And while other forms of outreach have piqued the small business owner’s interest, such as social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, email marketing is still central to the larger integrated marketing approach.”

John’s comment: A primer for small business owners to get started easily.

Mike Hillyer presents How To Send One Billion Email marketing Messages Per Month posted at Mike Hillyer’s Webspace, saying, “Contrary to what the image to the image above implies, there’s nothing inherently evil about sending a billion messages a month. Some of the businesses that move a billion messages a month include ESPs, social networks (some move more than a billion a day for that matter), social gaming sites and large online retailers.”

John’s comment: Interesting. Explains a lot of technical details and teaches what is involved with sending emails in huge quantities.

SendBlaster Email marketing Blog presents 7 Books To Enhance Your Email Marketing Skills posted at SendBlaster Email marketing Blog, saying, “If you are directly involved in email marketing activities and truly want to enhance your skills, it is also a good idea to spend some time reading printed books!”

John’s comment: Some good books on email marketing.

I have my most important data with me all the time. Thanks to the cloud.

Did you ever travel to a meeting with a prospective client and discover that you forgot to copy the file with your presentation to your notebook or to pack the CD or DVD?

Chances are good that you just answered that question with “yes”.

Nowadays it is rather simple to prevent something like that from happening. Just make sure your information is accessible in the cloud.

A service which I started using recently is FilesAnywhere.

FilesAnywhere makes traveling with your ‘data’ much easier.

Check it out: http://filesanywhere.com
Currently they offer a free plan which gives you 1GB of storage.

By the way I wrote a note on my facebook page last year about how I have moved my entire email correspondence to Gmail: Save Your Emails In The Cloud - Talking GMail

Talk to you later.

John W. Furst presents Getting to Know E-Mail Recipients - eMarketer posted at Articles - the latest Market Research, Internet Statistics - eMarketer, saying, “Personalization means more than just being on a first-name basis. E-mail marketers competing for attention in cluttered inboxes know that relevance and targeting will help get their messages read by consumers. While a personalized subject line can bring success, a survey of US and UK Internet users by e-mail marketing services firm e-Dialog suggests marketers must get to know more about their recipients than just a first name.”

How You Can Generate Sales Leads Using Inbound Marketing in 30 Days

When you ask someone with a successful social media presence how to build your own audience, the answer most often is, “Write a blog post, Tweet it to your following, and share it on Facebook and LinkedIn.” But what if you do not have many followers on Twitter or Facebook Fans?

A few weeks ago, my company decided to start a process to answer the question: “How can a business that does not have many hits on their website, has no followers on Twitter, and no Fans on Facebook, generate sales leads using inbound marketing in only 30 days?”

lead generation with social media
Catching leads on social media ain't easy without a plan (image credit)

Our goal is to get people to sign up for a webinar where we will share this marketing plan.

Below is how we are getting webinar attendees:

Create a Story

The web is a crowded space and you are in constant competition to earn your target audience’s attention. We have come to realize that your competition does not just reside in your industry, but is everywhere. Think about what you read – whether it pertains to your business or not. What stories resonate with you the most? It can be a blog post on how to grow your business, or news relating to your favorite football team, or the heartfelt story of a mother reunited with her child. All content producers are competing for your time, and no matter how you spend it, you only have 24 hours a day.

Before writing a blog post, and before building your social media plan, you first need a story that will resonate with your ideal customer. At Cloud Marketing Labs, we want to be known as the firm who can deliver sales leads in 30 days using Social Media. We feel this is something our audience can wrap their hands around, and will help us stand out from some of our marketing firm competitors.

Focus

You cannot join every network and be successful at all of them in 30 days. You need to focus all of your time and energy on 2 or 3 platforms. We chose blogging, public relations and Pay Per Click (PPC).

Blogging

After writing great content pertaining to your story, you need an audience to read it. In order to grow our audience, we would share our most helpful posts with friends and customers by emailing them a link to the post and asking them to share it with their friends. The key here is not to abuse your contacts. Only send a few posts, otherwise, you risk becoming a bit of a spammer and annoying. Even if you do not have a large following on Facebook, Twitter, etc., chances are someone who you are in regular contact with does, and will be happy to share helpful information with their network.

Public Relations

We found many blogs, such as the E-Biz Booster Blog, looking for guest posters and fresh content. If your story is compelling and unique, chances are they will allow you to leverage their network and help you grow your audience and expand your reach.

By pitching our “Sales Leads in 30 Days Using Social Media” story to various blogs and friends, we have been able to set up a few guest posts over the course of these 30 days. We get the benefit of expanded reach, and they get the benefit of new voices.

We are also going to submit a news release announcing a webinar where we will share this story with small and mid-sized business owners. However, instead of emailing the news release to journalists, we are going to use the online distribution service PRWeb. This will help with our search rankings and increase the visibility of our story as it gets picked up by various news aggregation sites.

Pay Per Click

Our final focus is on PPC advertising. However, instead of using Adwords, we decided to use Facebook’s advertising platform. There are two main reasons for this. First, it is cheaper. We are in a competitive space, and Adwords clicks would be well over $1.00 per click to get onto the first page. Second, Facebook ads will help you develop your buyer persona. You have visibility on things like age, gender, likes, and job titles that you are unable to see using Google Adwords. This will help us target our ads more precisely, increasing the efficiency of our campaign.
